Empowering Youth and children

The program is aimed at empowering youth and children through engagement in various activities that integrate Islamic perspective and practices into traditional Canadian formats. In addition to learning the skills of the traditional format (e.g. leadership, healthy relationships, mentoring, role modelling, and teamwork), youth and children learn to see that the two systems can be complementary and that they can be balanced.

Help in Bridging the Cultural Gap

There are in fact multiple gaps that need to be addressed in order for the Muslims to successfully adapt to the Canadian environment and for Canada to be enriched by the diversity of cultures. The clients MFNS serves come from a variety of countries, each with its distinct culture. There is the obvious gap between the home culture and the Canadian environment, but there is also the gap between the home culture and the Islamic perspective, which is not always obvious. And the third gap is between the perception of Muslims and the reality of who they are and what their beliefs are.

The essentials are considered to be food, clothing, furnishings, and the means of finding employment. MFNS believes that without these basics, individuals and families cannot move to the critical steps of integrating into society. MFNS generally supplements the support available through other organizations. But in some cases, it is the sole provider of these services to individuals and families.
